New Sources of Online Revenue for Your Website

As your busting your butt to get more traffic and to keep them too, you should really get more return for your time. This really comes down to increasing the value per user. But that takes times to doesn’t it? Yes, it does, but there are some quick changes you can make to find new online revenue streams for the website. The following portions of websites usually remain unmonetized:

  1. RSS Feeds
  2. Mobile Sites/Apps
  3. Pre-roll videos
  4. Exit pages

RSS feeds

If you have a loyal audience that comes back for your valuable content, there’s a good chance you have a large RSS following. This RSS feeds that are usually viewed every day outside of your website. These RSS feeds could be monetized via Google AdSense. If you opt in to the RSS feed ads, it gives you the option to splice in ads between each RSS entry. If you feel that one ad per entry is too much you can customize how frequent the ads are. It’s the quick and easy way to monetize a potentially popular portion of your website.

Mobile Sites/Apps

If you have a mobile version of your site and/or mobile apps, they are the perfect opportunity for advertisements. Mobile ads go for a significantly higher RPM (Revenue per 1000 impressions) than normal online ads. Mobile ads aren’t difficult to implement and represent a strong return.

Pre-roll videos

If you have any imbedded content videos, you have the ability to add pre-roll video advertisements. Pre-roll video ads generally go for high RPM rates and are becoming less intrusive and more accepted. There are specific ad networks that offer video advertisements such as BrightRoll or Yume. So, if you have any imbedded video’s that get a significant amount of views, don’t hesitate to implement ad video advertisements on them.

Exit pages

You can do an analysis in Google Analytics in the content section that shows the pages on your website that receives the highest exit rates. These are generally search results that do not return results, thank you pages or broken link pages. Exit pages are the best places to place ads or specifically relevant affiliate advertisements. These ads always get high CTR’s (Click through rates) and if the affiliate advertisements are highly relevant, they get high conversion rates. Inserting advertisements into these pages is the best way to convert exit pages from your worst enemy to your best friend.

Many of these changes can be made in less than half a day. Then all you have to do is sit back watch the additional revenues roll in. Now then, doesn’t that make you smile?
