The Challenge

  • Multiple, recurring Google policy violations across the publisher’s sites, including ad stacking, page speed issues, and low-value content flags
  • Revenue not reflecting actual traffic; performance was flat and underperforming despite ongoing site activity
  • Several dormant domains, inactive for over a year, flagged by MonetizeMore’s Compliance team with a recommendation to offload them
  • An account many monetization providers would likely have offboarded rather than continue investing in.

Why MonetizeMore Stayed In

The publisher was one of MonetizeMore’s oldest and largest partners, and among the earliest to work with the platform on traffic acquisition. Over time, their traffic volumes had declined. Through the existing relationship, the publisher shared that they were struggling to acquire high-quality, trustworthy traffic, a factor contributing to the compliance issues.

As traffic quality continued to deteriorate, MonetizeMore’s Compliance team recommended offloading several dormant domains that no longer met Google’s quality standards. Before acting on that recommendation, the team scheduled a call with the publisher to explain the compliance concerns directly and to understand their longer-term business plans.

In that discussion, the Customer Success Manager learned the publisher was in the process of getting several new domains approved by Google. As an alternative, the team proposed to bring the existing, pre-approved dormant domains back into compliance instead of pursuing new domain approvals from scratch.

MonetizeMore and the publisher built a domain-by-domain roadmap:

  • Addressed one domain at a time
  • Set deadlines against every issue flagged by Compliance
  • Held regular check-ins to track progress

As each domain came back into compliance, the publisher began testing new traffic sources on infrastructure that was already approved, giving them a faster, more predictable path to scale than pursuing new domain approvals would have offered.

Alongside the compliance work, the Customer Success Manager introduced the publisher to MonetizeMore’s Profit Attribution Report, which measured ROI on individual traffic acquisition campaigns. Consolidating this reporting into MonetizeMore’s platform allowed the publisher to eliminate the need for an external attribution solution, for projected annual savings of approximately $12,000–$15,000.

The Solution

Profit Attribution Reporting: Gave the publisher visibility into which campaigns were driving revenue and which weren’t, replacing estimates with campaign-level data.

Data Transfer Fee Resolution: The publisher used an internal API to attribute ad clicks to marketing campaigns, powered by Google’s Data Transfer Service (DTS) — specifically the dts_click dataset, since MonetizeMore did not natively provide click-level attribution at that depth.

When MonetizeMore needed to begin passing through Google’s Data Transfer fees, which it had absorbed on the publisher’s behalf since the start of the relationship, the two teams worked to find an alternative. The publisher determined that a custom key-value (UTM_CTX) would meet their attribution needs, provided it could be surfaced inside MonetizeMore’s own reporting. MonetizeMore’s AdOps and Product teams built this capability into the Profit Attribution Report. Once live, the publisher discontinued use of the dts_click dataset and moved this reporting into MonetizeMore’s platform, reducing their dependency on a third-party service, simplifying workflows, and eliminating the publisher’s dependency on Google’s Data Transfer Service.

Cross-Functional Execution: This result involved coordinated work across four teams: Compliance identified the risk, Partner Success built the relationship and roadmap, and AdOps and Product delivered the technical fix. MonetizeMore leadership cited this account as an example of the company’s cross-functional business-line structure producing results across departments.

Timeline

Early stage — Policy violations were active across multiple domains. A compliance roadmap was built jointly with the publisher, with no domains removed in the process.

Mid stage — As flagged domains came back into compliance, the publisher began testing traffic on pre-approved sites. Traffic and revenue increased week-over-week.

Recent state — Scaling accelerated from late May onward, producing a 354% month-on-month net revenue increase by June, with the publisher signaling intent for a longer-term partnership.

Results

  • 354% month-on-month net revenue increase (May → June)
  • 140% increase in pageviews over the same period
  • Sustained week-over-week traffic growth
  • Approximately $12,000–$15,000 in projected annual savings from consolidating attribution reporting into MonetizeMore’s platform
  • The account is positioned to deprecate Data Transfer fees entirely going forward

Key Takeaway

This account illustrates MonetizeMore’s approach to compliance issues: rather than offloading this publisher’s domains, MonetizeMore worked alongside them to resolve the underlying compliance issues and rebuild a foundation for growth. In this case, that approach preserved a long-standing partnership and contributed to a 354% month-on-month revenue increase.
