How “Mute this Ad” Can Benefit Publishers

Google has launched its latest feature to give more power to the users in terms of control over the ads that are shown to them. This new feature is called “Mute this ad” a small [x] that appears in the corner of some display ads on the Google Display Network.

This new feature benefits not just the users but the entire ecosystem as a whole which includes publishers and advertisers alike.

A signal is sent to the system when the user tends to press the  [x] on the ads shown. Then that signal will inform the system that the user is not interested in certain ads. In return, advertisers will no longer pay to show ads to users who aren’t interested.
