off page header bidding guide

This post was most recently updated on July 25th, 2019

Header bidding solutions truly changed the playing game in advertising technology, and for a good reason. It ditched the limitations imposed by the traditional waterfall setup in advertising and header bid solutions in general to increase ad revenues. It changed the playing field for good. Coming from this emanates the need for high-quality header containers that will effectively consolidate header bid partners.

Here at MonetizeMore, we offer our publishers two setup types for header container implementation: on-page and off-page.

Off page allows a simple and uniform implementation of header bidding solutions for both desktop and mobile ads for all sizes to your website. There are easier implementation and more reliable setup. But if you want to customize the header bidding according to the section of your site or the type of device used by the user, you need to implement header bidding using our on-page setup.

Set up your off-page header container solution on your sites for maximum revenue with the following steps:

Step 1: Meet the qualifications. Most of our partner publishers make $20k USD revenue per month, have 40 million ad impressions per month, undergo MonetizeMore screening process, and set their ad tags to asynchronous. Your web developer or site administrator can set the asynchronous ad tags for you.

Step 2: Create your DFP account. Here is a handy video tutorial to teach you how if you don’t have DFP already set up.

Step 3: Grant access to your DFP account for MonetizeMore. Monetize More’s Support team on duty will assist you and provide you with the details.

Step 4: For off page setup to work, make sure your desktop and mobile ad units in DFP are distinguishable from each other.

Most publishers put the prefix desktop and mobile and naming their line items to do so. Also, if you happen to have a pre-existing relationship with any HB networks, send in the placement IDs so that they can also be configured.

Step 5: Wait for the configurator code that will be sent by MonetizeMore.

The code will look something like this:

<script src=”http://m2d.m2.ai/m2d.website.alldevices.min.js”></script>

Ads Sample:
<div id=”desktop_leaderboard_atf”></div>

<div id=”desktop_sidebar_ATF”></div>

<div id=”desktop_sidebar_BTF1″></div>

<div id=”mobile_atf1″></div>

<div id=”mobile_btf1″></div>

Step 6: Get the configurator URL and Implement this line in the header section:

<script src=”http://m2d.m2.ai/m2d.website.alldevices.min.js”></script>
This is different for every publisher.

The header section of your website is embedded between the <head> </head> tags. Insert this single script tag line inside that.

Alternatively, you can use the Head, Footer, and Post Injections Wordpress plugin if you have a Wordpress site. In Settings, you can insert the script source code like this:

Step 7: Use div container tags for each ad unit. Copy each slot ID in the configuration and place it within the <body></body> tag of your target page:
<div id=”INSERT_SLOT_ID_HERE”></div>
<div id=”INSERT_SLOT_ID_HERE”></div>
<div id=”INSERT_SLOT_ID_HERE”></div>

Using Head, Footer, and Post Injections plugin, you can paste it in this region:

For this to work, make sure your quotes(”   “) are standard ASCII quotes from a text editor such as Notepad.  Do not use Google Docs, MS Word, or Gmail as they can change the quotes.

Here is a live sample code pasted on one of our client websites:

Header:

<script src=”http://m2d.m2.ai/m2d.gravitytales.alldevices.min.js”></script>

Ad Units:

<div id=”desktop_leaderboard_atf”></div>

<div id=”desktop_sidebar_ATF”></div>

<div id=”desktop_sidebar_BTF1″></div>

<div id=”mobile_atf1″></div>

<div id=”mobile_btf1″></div>

These are some of the live ads generated from that code:

Off-page setup is convenient in that apart from the approval and configuration process, you only have to paste a few lines of code in one area of your general website setup.
