One of the best things you can do after you register for AdSense to prevent your application from getting disapproved is reading the Adsense guidelines like it is your bible. But before you think of anything, decide what your content is going to be and make sure it’s high quality. Google can be pretty nit-picky about what is considered high-quality content so do your research. This is probably the most important point is it doesn’t make much sense for Google Adsense to approve a website that is not attractive to advertisers. You can find out if a topic has high commercial value by seeing if the search terms have Pay per click (PPC) campaigns running for them. If this hypothetical topic has 3 or fewer PPC ads then it’s probably a better idea to choose a different topic.
While commercial value is important, this has to be balanced with uniqueness. Your approval chances might be lowered if you choose a topic that has already been covered by a large number of blogs. Lucky for you, Google has some tools that can help you choose a topic that advertisers will consider attractive and you consider unique. These tools are Google Trends and Google Insights and not to worry, tutorials are available for both. You may have your heart set on a specific topic but these tools can help you gauge the popularity of your topic or tailor a topic so that it is accessible for a wide audience or if you are not quite sure where to start Google Insights can offer some ideas.
Two methods that can be employed to increases chances of approval are building backlinks and linking your website to analytics and webmasters. Backlinks to websites with more authority reflect well on your website and give more legitimacy to the quality of your website. Linking to analytics and webmasters is essentially a way for Google to get more accurate information about your website.
Getting your website approved is a process that requires action on the publisher’s side and on Google’s side. The first step is quite clear which is submitting your application but first pause and make sure Google will find your content acceptable, your site has visitors (Someone has to view those ads you want to put on your website), the site’s content is both unique and interesting, your website is user friendly and definitely make sure there are no invalid links. For specifics, check out Google’s rules concerning acceptable content but the big three to definitely avoid is gambling, content for adult audiences, and sharing hacking information.
It’s nice that after you submit your application, you will receive an email from Google concerning your application’s status within a day. After you have received this email from Google about your application’s status, assuming you have been allowed to continue on, the second step would be to place ads on the website you’ve listed in your application, it goes without saying that the ads need to be placed on a website that receives visitors (the more traffic your website receives equals higher chances of approval). Until you’ve passed the second review, you will only be able to see blank ads.
It is very important to not click on your own ads, Google will know, Google will always know. Once Google detects that ads have been placed on a live site, the review process will automatically continue. The third step is a waiting game, at this stage, Google is checking to see if your website complies with their policies.
After about a week, once this stage is complete you will receive an email about your application’s status. If you have been disapproved, the email you receive should outline the basic reasons why your application was not approved. If you have been approved, Welcome!
