New publishers often struggle to get accepted into AdSense. Many of them get hit with a “Valuable inventory: Templated page” AdSense violation and then don’t know how to get past it. Although there are many AdSense alternatives, AdSense remains one of the best ad networks for publishers.
In this post, we’re going to help you understand this violation, offer some valuable tips to bypass the issue, and get accepted into AdSense.
If this violation has hit you, you probably received this message or something similar:
Valuable inventory: Templated page
As stated in our Program policies, we may not show Google ads on pages or apps with little to no value and/or excessive advertising until changes are made. This includes but is not limited to mirroring or framing content from other sources without adding value.
Pay special attention to the words highlighted. The quality of content you have on your website is low and it provides little or no value in the eyes of Google.
There is also another variation of this policy violation that says “ valuable inventory: no content.”
What you need to apply for an AdSense account
Google offers some general guidelines for publishers applying for an AdSense account, but we’ve found the following to be important in AdSense applications.
-Having a website that is at least three months old.
-Your site needs to have at least 30 articles published that is unique and provides value to readers
-Generally, there isn’t a minimum traffic threshold, but the more traffic you have, the better your chances of getting approved.
Understanding unique content and high quality sites
You could probably create a website containing copied content with a bunch of legal implications (not recommended). The issue with that is, you’ll never get accepted into AdSense and probably won’t generate any organic traffic from Google.
To join the AdSense ad network, Google wants your site to offer unique and relevant content to users that provide value and a reason to visit your website.
How to create content that Google loves and beat the “Valuable inventory: Templated page” violation
#1 – Try 80/20 rule: 80% original content, 20% pulled from other sources.
-It doesn’t have to be literally this ratio, but the goal here is to publish mostly original content.
-Feature a hobby you enjoy, discuss an idea, a new product you tried, travel to an interesting place, and blog about it. Observe your surroundings and you’ll be surprised by the many topics you can come up with.
-Use original photos, videos.
#2 – Create unique content that is valuable to site visitors
-It’s easy to take content from other websites and put it into an article. Still, it doesn’t provide any more value than the websites you used as sources unless you add value or originality to it.
-Think about what you can add to your content that makes it different from competitors.
-How can you make it truly unique and so that visitors would want to return to your site or share it on social media?
-Add rich media such as videos, images, and links to provide as much value as possible and offer a great user experience.
#3 – Avoid duplicate content at all cost
-Duplicate content isn’t good for SEO, and it can get your site penalized.
-Avoid creating multiple pages containing duplicate content.
-If you have multiple pages on your website that are similar or whose focus is to provide the same information, consider merging that content into a single page or article.
#4 – Offer the information as promised
-Some publishers target specific keywords just get users to land on their site but then offer little to no value in terms of what users were searching for in the first place.
-Focus on building high-quality content that meets the user’s search intent.
-Properly structure your content with hierarchical headings, bullet points, subsections, and more.
-Also providing well-organized navigation items is key.
-Having a link in your website navigation that points to a 404 page means that users aren’t getting the information promised.
How to make sure your content is unique
Apart from considering everything mentioned above, you can run your content through a plagiarism checker to check it’s uniqueness.
Following the steps mentioned above will have you well on your way to creating high-quality content pieces. This way you’ll get accepted into AdSense and kick the “Valuable inventory: Templated page” violation to the curb. Not only that, but you’ll also be creating content Google loves to rank in their search engine.
